A large sofa and a room full of furniture need different plans. Start with a piece-by-piece list, including anything stored in a basement, upstairs room, or separate building.
Furniture to discuss
- Sofas, sectionals, recliners, and upholstered chairs.
- Dining tables, desks, dressers, and shelving.
- Bed frames, headboards, mattresses, and box springs; list each separately.
- Oversized or unusually heavy pieces, with approximate dimensions.
Check the route out
Measure the largest piece and mention tight doorways, stair turns, elevators, or a long walk to the street. Photos of the furniture and access route give useful context without moving anything first.
Empty drawers and shelves, keep personal belongings separate, and identify furniture that must stay. Ask whether disassembly is needed and who would handle it before taking a piece apart.
Before you arrange pickup
Can I ask about just one piece?
Yes. Describe the single item, its size, and where it is located. The provider can then confirm whether the job fits its service and explain any applicable minimum.
Should I move furniture outside first?
Describe where it is now and ask how pickup would work. Avoid moving a bulky piece through a difficult stairway just to prepare for a quote.
What about furniture with glass or loose parts?
Mention glass panels, mirrors, detached legs, and broken sections in your request so handling can be discussed before pickup.
